First woman telephone operator.

On 1 September 1878, Emma Nutt became the first woman telephone operator in America. She started working for the phone company as an attempt to replace the teenage boys who were taking on the job. She ended her career 33years later. Since 1900, many women chose to be phone operators in order to open up more room for work opportunities.
